Hi I’m Sophie! I enjoy creating illustrative projects that offer a playful and interactive experience. I find lots of my inspiration from places around me, in the hope of creating fun projects that encourage exploration and inspire people.

‘A Closer Look’ – Activity Trail

A Closer Look is a speculative family friendly activity trail I created for Bradgate Park in Leicestershire. The trail encourages visitors to learn more about the park’s wildlife and history, by enabling them to take “A Closer Look” at their surroundings. On arrival, visitors can collect a free activity sheet which they can complete by reading the facts on the seven information boards throughout the park – which cover topics such as Trees and Deer. The Tangram illustrations and Origami activity sheet I created will help children to gain familiarity with geometric figures while developing spatial reasoning abilities. Ultimately, the project would help to create a community of people with an understanding and appreciation of the park, helping to continue the work of “The Bradgate Park & Swithland Wood Charity”.

‘Atomic Habits’ – Book Cover Design

Atomic Habits by James Clear is a non-fiction book, which hopes to help everyone seeking to make positive change in their lives by changing their behaviour. I created a cover as part of the latest Penguin Book Cover Competition. My design was inspired by this quote in the book, “Atomic habits are the building blocks of remarkable results”. The blocks in my design represent habits and show how an abundance of tiny habits can create something wonderful.

‘Hungry Fox’ – Food Tasting Event

Hungry Fox is a speculative food tasting event held over a few days in Leicester City Centre. This event would give the people of Leicester the opportunity to try a variety of eateries all in one day – sampling dishes that were new to them. This could be done at an affordable price, avoiding the risk of wasting their money or time. The fox is considered a symbol of Leicester, and so I created a ‘human-like fox’ character to represent and be the centre of this fun, visual identity.
