My final collection has been inspired by my grandparents who in their early careers, worked at The Shepshed Lace, a textile manufacturing company famous for manufacturing lace and elastic.
My project aims to celebrate and honour traditions and craftsmanship that has been lost over time and to rediscover a once thriving industry. I have been particularly interested in exploring the texture and shapes within lace and the machines that they were made from and how that can translate to print design.
I produced my final collection by using screen printing techniques and methods to honour the hands on craftsmanship that was used within The Shepshed Lace.
