PULSE

PULSE aims to change the way that we listen to music. Integrated sensory technology creates an immersive musical journey going beyond listening. Music has lost some of its soul through the introduction of streaming services and digital media, you are rarely able to replicate the immersion of a concert with headphones. PULSE aspires to create an escape and experience that connects the user more deeply to their music.

Using bone conduction paired with over ear headphones to provide an enhanced audio experience that offers the user haptic feedback, allowing the music to not only be heard but felt.
Integrated LED’s provide visual stimulation through a detachable etched acrylic visor. The lighting is synced with your music to match the feel of whatever you are listening to.

Process

This was my initial idea sketch for PULSE, since then through prototyping and user feedback the idea has developed to where it is today.
By developing a brand along side my product I have been able to define PULSE’s language and personality to align with the values it aims to provide.
Prototyping was a crucial phase for PULSE, gaining valuable user feedback to inform size, shape and aesthetic to help produce a desirable product.

DESIGN WEEK
Response to a brief from Design Week 2024. Ceri is a window ledge based air purifier, aimed at rural communities to reduce the impact of agricultural grain dust in the home. Gain dust impacts the health and quality of life for residents in rural areas; Ceri helps prevent dust from entering the home in the first place.
UX
Alli is an energy saving app for elderly residents living in co-housing communities in the Netherlands. It does this by creating a platform for easier resource sharing, which not only reduces energy consumption but helps prevent loneliness and encourages skill sharing amongst residents.
RSA DESIGN AWARDS
A response to an RSA brief to utilise trees to help protect he environment. River Guard is a modular defence system, reducing the flow of straightened rivers and the impact of flooding in at risk areas.

Work Experience

2022-2023 Placement year – Industrial Design Intern – Raymont Osman Product Design
Through my placement I was able to gain invaluable skills across the whole design process, from concept to production. Beyond developing my design skills, I learnt about collaborating with real clients to fulfil briefs, pitching my ideas, Co-ordinating with suppliers and the dynamics of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
