Parasitic Relationships in Nature: an exploration of one material being detrimental to the other.
In this project, I have investigated into various parasites and their relationships with their hosts. I wanted to make a three-dimensional sculptural form in order to highlight these exploitative bonds, and to explore intriguing textures.
Throughout my project, I have studied various parasitic plants and creatures. This research has inspired the shapes and forms I have created from paper, card and copper.
To represent the parasitic relationship between materials, I have experimented with paper and wire, paper and foamboard, copper and wire, and copper and timber. Each of these has informed my design process and has enabled me to consider other forms and material combinations.
