Problem and Solution

Currently, time away from screens is starting to become a rare occurrence as more activities start incorporating its functionality to stay relevant.

“Death in the Cards” aims to provide a break from staring at screens and create an equally engaging and immersive activity as playing a video game or watching a movie. In addition, it provides a unique format for reading a murder mystery. Rather than a linear experience, the viewer has a direct input to how the murder is solved.

Rise: Video Game Concept

What is Rise?

Rise is a co-op puzzle game where each player works on a different centre of gravity and use non-verbal methods of communication to work together.

There is a current issue that stems from the lack of autistic representation in media — movies, books, video games etc. — which creates a limited understanding of the spectrum. Many people are not familiar of the lesser-known symptoms of autism and therefore are unaware whether their actions are harmful to other people. Due to this lack of awareness, it creates a rift between neurodivergent and neurotypical people. This game aims to bridge this divide and create an inclusive and supportive environment to learn about autism.

Gameplay

The players must collaborate together using non-verbal communication, through actions and emotes, to solve puzzles and climb to the top of the tower, avoiding the ever-growing corruption that has taken over the land.

However, the puzzles include a unique twist being each character works on a different centre of gravity. Throughout the game, a connection will foster between the two players as they develop their own system of communication.

The goal of each puzzle is to eliminate the Corruption by lighting the Beacons with music discs, slowly clearing a path allowing the players to reach the top of the tower and filling the tower with
soothing music.
