I am a 23 year old painter who focuses on the female form through self portraiture.
Throughout this journey I have been looking at female form and self-portraiture more importantly focusing on how I as a women view my person and sense of self. My images often have accentuated body parts allowing the gestural paint strokes to evoke how I feel about those areas of my body.
I paint on large sheets of paper, although I have experimented with different materials, I felt it was too finished. Paper adds unfinished and temporary connotations which further amplifies the temporary and forever changing nature of the feelings surrounding the body.
The faces in my paintings are not detailed, although they are self-portraits and I definitely see myself in them I wanted to allow the viewers to see themselves in these paintings also.
