I am a Textiles Designer with a love for colour, pattern and texture. I take inspiration from nature and the beauty of the world around me, with a particular interest in screen-printing.

Final Project: Waves of Memory


I have taken inspiration for this project from West Wittering Beach in West Sussex, a place where I have lots of happy memories with my Grandparents. My Grandfather suffers with Dementia, and his intermittent memories are very precious. He sometimes remembers collecting driftwood, shells and stones from the beach to put around the garden, all things that I have incorporated into my collection. The main aim of my project is to bring the beauty of the beach into a domestic interior setting, with a focus on promoting wellbeing amongst people suffering with Dementia. I chose to design a soft furnishing collection including sofa coverings, cushions and curtains, which we look at and use on a daily basis, in order to bring comfort and beauty into people’s everyday lives. I also printed matching wallpapers to sit alongside my designs.
A selection of prints created for my collection. I have used a colour palette of soft blues, greys and turquoises, paired with mustard and teal to add a pop of bright colour.
A series of prints from my design development at the beginning of the project. I used a range of natural linens and cottons, as well as dyeing cottons using direct dye to achieve a beautiful colour palette. I love the more textured linens as these brought a more tactile element into my prints.

Final Print Collection

This print is a 5-layer registered repeat. Screen-printed onto donated cotton using pigment print pastes. Taking inspiration from shells and pebbles found at the Witterings.

I turned two of my screen-prints into cushions. The addition of hand embroidery created texture within these designs and added an extra layer of depth. The tactile surface brings the designs to life, with sensory touch and feel providing comfort for people with dementia. I took inspiration from water and coral to create these designs, and I love the contrast between the painterly style of the design and the texture of the embroidery.
