I specialise in woven textiles and fashion design, integrating my passion for travel and culture into my creative projects.
Inspired by conservation photojournalist Paul Hilton and his collection of emotive photo essays, ‘And Then There Were None’ embarks on a visual journey through the breath-taking beauty, rich diversity, and unwavering solidarity found within the Leuser Rainforest, a jewel of Asia’s biodiverse landscapes. This project serves as a poignant reminder of the urgent need for conservation efforts to safeguard this precious ecosystem and its inhabitants. Against formidable adversaries such as the palm oil industry and illegal wildlife trade, which relentlessly exploit the forest’s resources, the project highlights the critical importance of protecting and preserving this irreplaceable, natural wonder for future generations. Traditional North Sumatran ‘Ulos’ weaving also inspired the project and the ever growing need to keep the practice alive as generations go on and new technologies replace old traditions driven by exponential consumerism.
