Multidisciplinary Artist
I am fascinated by the tactile and visual possibilities of clay. My work, inspired by natural landscapes, explores the intersections of colour, texture and form.
“Embodied Landscapes” is a series of ceramic sculptures inspired by natural landscapes, exploring the concept of Haptic Aesthetics. These pieces intertwine the tactile language of touch with the materiality of clay, focusing on the sensory experience evoked by textures and forms. The sculptures feature vibrant glazes and detailed surfaces, inviting viewers to visually appreciate their tactile qualities. By blending materials and creating dynamic shapes, each piece playfully expresses the familiar forms of nature, encouraging deeper visual engagement with its textures and contours.
Creating “Embodied Landscapes” involved working with various techniques to bring my vision to life. My sculptures are created using slab building techniques, plaster slump, and hump moulds. I also 3D printed custom ceramic tools, such as ribs, stencils and stamps, to achieve unique textures. Experimentation played a crucial role as I tested various glaze formulas and firing methods to achieve vibrant and tactile surfaces.
