My images explore the transformative power of dreams and the profound insights they offer into the depths of the human psyche. The viewer is invited to challenge conventional notions of perception and reality, beyond the confines of logic and reason.
My practice delves into the enigmatic realm of the subconscious mind. Through my exploration of the subjective experience of dreams, I aim to unravel the mysteries of human innermost thoughts and emotions. Through underwater photography, I capture moments that transcend reality, offering glimpses into the surreal landscapes of the subconscious mind. Each image serves as a portal to the depths of the psyche, where every detail holds psychological significance. I have explored the navigation of blurring boundaries between dreams and reality, uncovering the hidden truths that lie beneath the surface.
The “Monochopsis” series is a series of images selected for presentation in my degree show. These images expand on the exploration of cinematic, dreamlike scapes. The absence of the face and most of the body, explores the phenomenon often apparent in dreams of a loss of identity of the characters that appear in them. Often, we cannot remember who appeared in our dreams, but the actions, stories and details remain in the memory. Using details such as a body submerged in a suit and a suitcase, aim to confuse a viewer, as this event surely did not happen in real life…
The “Aeon’s” series, was the initial investigation into the interaction between the human form and water, in order to create a surrealist, cinematic landscape only accessed through the subconscious mind. Using a clothed torso in a suit, with the absence of any facial features or recognisable human expression, I aimed to create a sense of the unknown, of a story that would only appear in an a dream. “Anxiety dreams” are a common feature of the human psyche, and each one holds a different meaning. This series references this phenomenon, forcing a viewer to access the fantastical side of their brain.
